India’s first Women’s Premier League (WPL) cricket has raked in hundreds of millions of dollars before a ball is even thrown on Saturday, and pundits are calling it a seminal moment for women’s sport. The five-team Women’s Premier League begins on March 4th at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai and will run until March 26th, with top players from around the world taking part. In its inaugural season, the Women’s Premier League will host a total of 20 league games and two play-off games, played over a 23-day period.

The opening ceremony will take place tomorrow before the first WPL game between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans. The opening ceremony for WPL will take place on March 4th at 5:30 p.m. Cricket fans can watch the WPL Opening Ceremony live stream on Jio Cinema. It will also air on Sports 18 Network.

Several Bollywood celebrities are expected to attend the WPL 2023 opening ceremony.

Bollywood stars Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon will perform at the ceremony. Punjabi-born Canadian rapper AP Dhillon will also attend the opening ceremony and perform live for viewers.

DY Patil Stadium will host the WPL Opening Ceremony ahead of the opening game of the inaugural edition of the WPL between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans on March 4th.

On Sunday 5th March, the WPL will have their first double header day where Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on Delhi Capitals at Brabourne Stadium, CCI. UP Warriorz play their first game of the league against the Gujarat Giants at DY Patil Stadium tonight.

There will be four double headers with the first match starting at 3:30pm IST. All evening games begin at 7:30pm IST.

A total of 11 matches will be played at DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

The final match of the league stage will be played between UP Warriorz and Delhi Capitals on March 21st at Brabourne Stadium, CCI. The Eliminator will be played at DY Patil Stadium on March 24th.

The 2023 Women’s Premier League final will be played at Brabourne Stadium on March 26.

Investors have already poured huge sums into the WPL, including Indian tycoon and Gujarat Giants owner Gautam Adani, but it remains to be seen what audience the tournament will be able to attract and whether it will turn a profit.
