Holger Rune against Maxime Cressy head to head
There have been two previous encounters between these two and both have been at lower levels – one in last season’s Monte Carlo Masters qualifiers and another at Challenger level. Rune hasn’t lost a set yet.

Rune shrugs off Adelaide loss in style
Rune hit a deadly run on the track towards the end of last season. The Danish number one started outside the top 100 in 2022 and ended the year just before qualifying for the ATP Finals.
So much was expected of him when he went to court for his season opener in Auckland last week. However, things didn’t go to plan as Rune lost to Yoshihito Nishioka in that first round match.
He appeared to have shrugged off that possible rustiness here as the world No. 10 beat Filip Krajinovic by a straight set in their first-round encounter here.
In one of the easiest opening wins for a seeded player on Tuesday, Rune destroyed Krajinovic 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 in a shadow over two hours. Rune lost serve once in each of the first and third sets, but that didn’t stop him from inflicting his opponent a whopping seven breaks with serves, with 39 winners and 11 aces forming part of his win.
Rune sure looks like a dangerous offer now entering the second round.

Cressy does justice to the favorite tag in the opener
While Cressy fell in the opener at the Adelaide International, he knew he had to play to his full potential and he wouldn’t have had many problems against Albert Ramos Vinolas here in the first round.
Cressy had started as a 2/5 favorite against his Spanish opponent and despite getting off to a slow start he managed to earn a four-set win over Ramos-Vinolas.
In a match that lasted three hours and 25 minutes, Cressy secured a second-round spot with a 7-6(2), 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 win, serving great .
Cressy won 34 aces and 84% of first serves, while the American bombarded his opponent with 66 winners.
Interestingly, there were a total of three break points throughout the contest, with Cressy getting two of them while losing serve once – in set number three.
When facing Rune, Cressy will hope to keep blowing his serves, but at the same time hope he can reduce his mistake count from the 50 he managed in the opening game.
Rune v Cressy prediction and tip
Rune is a whopping 1/6 to win this, but we think it might not be that easy as Cressy expects to win a set thanks to his serve power.
