LAKE WORTH — Another new coach will head the Park Vista football program in 2023 as current coach Brandon Walker intends to step down at the end of the school year.
In a statement shared with the Post by the Palm Beach County School District’s Department of Communications, Dr. Enrique Vela, Principal of Park Vista High:
“Park Vista Community High School’s head football coach, Brandon Walker, informed me that he will be stepping down from his position at the end of this school year. 24th school year. The next head football coach will continue our strong commitment to athletic excellence and academic ability, working to improve our football program and our players on and off the field. We wish Coach Walker all the best in his future endeavours.”
According to a Twitter post on Jan.
He went 2-8 in his one-season stint with the Cobras. Walker took over after the tumultuous February 2022 firing of former coach and NFL Pro Bowler Leonard Weaver III.
The coaching carousel continues:Ex-NFL coach Brian VanGorder resigns from American Heritage-Delray

Walker inherited a talented roster despite running out of guns, like running back Jordan Clemons and defensive stallion Gavin Peacock, who saw Vista win 7-2 in 2022. It was the Cobras’ best win ratio since the school’s 10-1 result in 2016-17 under longtime coach Brian Dodds.
Despite the struggles, a 21-18 upset by a then-undefeated Santaluces in the penultimate game of the regular season made it seem like things might be working again.
Before joining Park Vista last March, Walker worked at Boca Raton High, where he went 13-8 in two seasons as head football coach before retiring in December 2019 to serve as athletic director for the Bobcats.
Park Vista joins Wellington, Olympic Heights, Boca Raton, King’s Academy, Palm Beach Lakes and most recently American Heritage-Delray in Palm Beach County’s high school football programs announcing head coach changes this offseason.
