Plumdog millionaire
One of the funniest subplots of this NBA season has been Mason Plumlee’s ongoing renaissance. Videos are circulating of NBA players literally grimacing every time they see Plumlee take a jump shot or a free throw this season as he makes the most unnatural moves you will ever see from a pro player. But the fun part is that those shots mostly go in.
Don’t be fooled by the aesthetics. At 32, this is by far the best season of Mason Plumlee’s career.
It all started when Plumlee — a career free-throw shooter at 56.3% who plummeted to below 40% last season — switched shooting hands on the line. The move began because of an index finger injury on Plumlee’s right hand last season. Once he started seeing results, he spent the entire offseason developing his offhand game. He started the year by switching to left touchline at the foul line, but gradually morphed into a fully left-handed dominant player as the season progressed.

This improvement on the line completely reinvigorated Plumlee’s game. Instead of shying away from contact on the fringes, he seeks it. His 4.5 free throw attempts per game would be a career high, as would his 67.4% 2-point percentage. He also takes jump shots that were way out of his reach as a right-hander.
The Charlotte Hornets haven’t had much to appreciate this season and Plumlee’s awkward play isn’t for everyone, but it’s been undeniably effective. At this point, you must see the improvement as real. Plumlee has averaged 19.6 points in his last five games and has hit the over in nine of his last ten games with his rapidly increasing point total. Eventually the odds makers will adjust, but for now, cash in on Plumdog Millionaire while you can.
Mason Plumlee Prop: Mason Plumlee Over 12.5 points (-122 on FanDuel)
TJMax
Before there was Jose Alvarado, there was TJ McConnell. He’s a nuisance and a player any coach would love to have. All the sports movie clichés about wanting more and pushing harder than the sum of his athletic abilities actually apply to McConnell’s case. Despite his limitations, he just does sweepstakes.
He has long been an effective defender on the ball, more than capable of running an offense when called upon to do so. As Tyrese Haliburton continues to miss time with knee and elbow injuries, the 6-foot-2 backup for the Indiana Pacers has consistently prevailed.
TJ McConnell always brings the energy.??

McConnell has taken on an increasingly larger role for Rick Carlisle. McConnell has rewarded Carlisle’s confidence with inspired play, and TJ has now started four straight games that way. After averaging just 7.7 points in a reserve role during the season, McConnell has more than doubled that tally in his last five games with 16.4 points.
He still rarely shoots three-pointers — instead, he’s a slick dribbler who makes a living inside the arc with hesitation and exquisite footwork, twisting and turning from baseline to goal. He’s also good for about one inbound steal per game.
TJ has made the over on his total score in eight of his last 10 games and his minutes continue to climb. I’m supporting McConnell again tonight.
TJ McConnell Prop: TJ McConnell Over 14.5 points (-115 at DraftKings)
Money Middleton
Khris Middleton is coming off a star-crossing season for the Milwaukee Bucks. The all-star wing has played just 10 games so far, missing the first 22 games with a broken wrist before making a brief return. He then missed another 17 straight with a knee injury. Middleton has returned to action in the last three games and understandably the Bucks have kept his minutes on a short leash.
Middleton came off the bench and was limited to about 15 minutes a night in his first three games, and his first two games were about as rusty as one might expect. However, his last game looked a lot like the old Middleton. He added 17 points, four rebounds and four assists in just 14:41.
Khris is back and in his pocket.

He was key to a dominant offensive start from Milwaukee, who scored 45 points in the first quarter against the Pacers. Middleton looked smooth and in control as he worked both offense and off the ball, and it seems like it’s only a matter of time before Mike Budenholzer takes the training wheels off entirely.
I’m not sure if that’s going to happen in this game against the New Orleans Pelicans, but I’m confident Middleton can fill the stats even with limited burn. It’s clear he knows he’ll make the most of every second he’s on the pitch when he’s on a time limit.
Khris Middleton prop: Khris Middleton Over 18.5 points + rebounds + assists (-115 on pointsbet)
