Widely regarded as the greatest boxer of all time, Floyd Mayweather makes his debut in a British ring when he takes on reality TV show star Aaron Chalmers in an exhibition match at London’s O2 Arena.
Mayweather retired from professional boxing in 2017 with an unblemished 50-0 record, but the lure of the ring, coupled with some healthy paychecks, has drawn him back to a string of exhibition bouts.
This sixth show fight follows fights involving social media star Logan Paul, two Japanese MMA fighters and his old sparring partner Don “Dangerous” Moore.
Mayweather last stepped into the ring in late 2022 when he stopped KSI’s brother Deji in the sixth round of their exhibition match.
The 46-year-old now takes on an unlikely opponent in the form of Aaron “The Joker” Chalmers, best known for his appearances on British reality TV shows Geordie Shore and Ex on the Beach.
The 35-year-old from Newcastle turned to MMA with appearances on the Bellator and BAMMA cards and has recently launched a boxing career under the tutelage of David Hayes trainer Adam Booth.
Mayweather was originally scheduled to face Liam Harrison for the event, but the English muay-thai fighter had to pull out with a knee injury, allowing Chalmers to step in at short notice for a one-off fight against a boxing legend in front of 20,000 in London.
