SEATTLE – No. 11 Washington Softball wraps up four straight weekends on the road at the Grand Canyon Classic in Phoenix. Over the three days, the Huskies will face Michigan State, Boise State, New Mexico, Charlotte and Grand Canyon at GCU Softball Stadium.
Washington goes into the weekend with a record of 13-3. The huskies are 12th in the nation averaging 7.38 runs per game, which ranks second among conference teams. Along the way, UW’s pitching staff has recorded eight shutouts, ranking fourth nationally. The Huskies hit a .314 as a team while keeping opponents at a .207 average. Washington has 49 extra base hits.

30 SEASONS OF WASHINGTON SOFTBALL
2023 marks Washington Softball’s 30th season. The Huskies’ first year as a program was 1993. Head Coach Heather Tarr was a player, manager and coach in 24 of 30 seasons in Purple and Gold.
THE LAST TIME-OUT
Washington came out of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a record of 4-1, their only loss in extra innings coming to 18th-ranked Kentucky. junior pitcher Kelly Lynch opened the tournament with her first career no-hitter against Bethune-Cookman. Along the way, Lynch notched a season-high with 13 strikeouts.
freshman catcher Sydney Stewart led the team with a .571 average with four hits and three RBI. Baylee Klinger had a team high of 10 hits while driving in four. Madison Husky recorded three home runs in five games to take their team lead to six in the season.
EXPLORING THE SPARTANS
Michigan State is sitting 6-8 on the season. Senior Jessica Mabrey leads the team with a .364 average and a 1.078 OPS. Mandy Esman leads the team with 10 RBI on the year. The Spartan pitching team holds a 3.85 ERA, with Ashley Miller leading the way with four complete games and two shutouts in 52 innings pitched.
EXPLORING THE BRONCOS
Boise State is 7-7 on the season. Mykenzie Hanna leads with a .419 batting average with three doubles and two homers. Three Broncos have over 10 RBIs in the season in Jordyn Hutchins (14), Eliyah Flores (12) and Alycia Flores (11).
RECOGNIZING THE LOBOS
New Mexico is 6-9 this season, with a double header against UTEP on Wednesday. Keyannah Chavez leads the team with a .375 average. Rachel Hathoot has 10 RBI and Maddie Boldt leads with three homers. Amber Linto leads the pitching staff with five complete games
RECOGNIZING THE NINERS
Charlotte is 9-4 a year and receives votes in the NFCA Coaches Poll. Bailey Vannoy was named C-USA Player of the Week following her performance at last weekend’s Queen City Classic. Vannoy hit four home runs in five games. The 49ers hold a 2.12 Team ERA with three pitchers under two.
RECOGNIZING THE LOPES
Grand Canyon is 16-1 on the season. The last time the Lopes didn’t score was in a doubleheader against CSU Bakersfield on Tuesday. As a team, GCU beats .360 with seven players over .300. Kristin Fifield is second nationally with 30 RBI and top-5 with seven homers. The Grand Canyon pitching staff holds a 1.38 ERA.
