Former MVP Russell Westbrook almost got his team across the finish line on his debut. After a chaotic end to his tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers, he played for the first time as a clipper. He was a constant target for the media and fans, while a Laker and all the hate once forced his wife to step in.
An ESPN report called him a “vampire,” and this was slammed by Nina Earl, Russ’ wife, and the NBA world. He eventually left the team and, following a takeover agreement with the Utah Jazz, joined their rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers.
Westbrook didn’t have the ideal debut. Though brilliant individually, the Kings’ performance overshadowed his debut. Also De’Aaron Fox’s Post-game comments are sure to annoy the former MVP even more.
